times are changin'

I'm tired of change.
Sick of it really.
I am good and ready for things to stay the same for a while. A looooong while.

You see, some very big changes have happened recently... some expected, some planned, and some surprises.
Just a little insight on some of the changes-
  • Going from working part-time to full-time
  • Going from a church secretary to a church secretary/intern
  • Our Senior Pastor leaving to plant a church elsewhere
  • Our Children's Minister leaving and starting a life with her new husband
  • My best friend getting married and starting life with her new husband
But as much as I want things to stay the same, I know things will have to change.
And some changes I am excited for! Ecstatic! Thrilled even! Just like...
  • Me getting ready to go off to school
  • Me getting ready to move
  • And me getting ready to go off on my own and be a real life grown up.
So in midst of all this change... Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 keeps coming to my mind-
There Is a Time for Everything
1 There is a time for everything,
and everything on earth has its special season.
2 There is a time to be born
and a time to die.
There is a time to plant
and a time to pull up plants.
3 There is a time to kill
and a time to heal.
There is a time to destroy
and a time to build.
4 There is a time to cry
and a time to laugh.
There is a time to be sad
and a time to dance.
5 There is a time to throw away stones
and a time to gather them.
There is a time to hug
and a time not to hug.
6 There is a time to look for something
and a time to stop looking for it.
There is a time to keep things
and a time to throw things away.
7 There is a time to tear apart
and a time to sew together.
There is a time to be silent
and a time to speak.
8 There is a time to love
and a time to hate.
There is a time for war
and a time for peace.
For me, it's a time to start over. Refresh. Renew. Reenergize. (and any other re- word you could insert here)

So, even though we may not like it, enjoy it, welcome it, or love it, change will happen. And it is okay. We just have to grin and bear it. Or something like that.

Happy Blogging! :)

Creepy Crawly

creepy.

and crawly.

and in my light.

There is a gifreakinormous bug in my light that sits above my desk.

And I am most certainly not afraid of it.

And I do not have an irrational fear that it will somehow escape and attack me.

And I certainly did not clear a path and leave my door open so I could run away like a chi... ahem, I mean promptly exit my office in a professional-like manner... just in case.

And I definately did NOT tweet about it, therefore enlightening everyone on the face of the planet on my fear of crawly, creepy-ish things.

And I absolutely did NOT take a picture of the monstrosity- I mean God's beautiful creation that I particularly do not enjoy- on my cell phone. Because if I did, that would mean that you would see the picture below.

What's that? You can see a picture of the bug? Oh... don't be silly... who would really do such a silly thing?
Unless your me.
Stinkin' bug.

Stop! Summer-Time!

Ok... so... after chastising my sister for not blogging in for-eh-ver! (name that movie!) I decided I shouldn't be a hypocrite and it's about time I updated.
So, in the last month here is what has been going on:
  • I finished the play, "Under the Sycamore Tree"... we had a blast! :)
  • Went to 2 more Texas Rangers games :)
  • Got plenty of autographs and pictures (from the Texas Rangers)... (to come soon in a later post!)
  • Started tweeting on twitter... follow me! :)
  • Started working full-time at the church- I am doing my regular job in the morning, then I am the Youth Summer Intern in the afternoons :)
  • Started walking 3 miles (almost) every day
  • Finished Week 1 of Summer Camp... in the middle of Week 2 now!

Coming up this weekend-

  • Going to the orthodontist on Thursday to get new archwires! (it's been 3 months already?!) With Baylee, who gets her braces on! :)

I'm an Ant! (no... seriously!)

I'm an Ant!

Nope. That is not a grammatical error.

I am an Ant. In a play.

Under the Sycamore is a play about ants who learn to become more human... yes, I said human. They start speaking in words instead of numbers, and start to express emotions. :)

So I just thought I was done with theatre!

Our Music Minister, my co-worker is directing it... so I decided to try out :)
His secretary is also in it... she's pretty hilarious... so it'll be a blast!

We start rehearsals tonight!

More to come!

Happy Blogging! :)

Easter!

wow.

it's been 2 months since i have posted last.

well.

here is what has happened in the last month:

  • I signed the lease on my new apartment. :) I move in on August 18!

  • I have braces now :D

  • I last blogged about Picnik. I am addicted. Really addicted.

  • I have also recently taken up the hobby of photography. And when I say recently, I mean on Easter. :)

So. That should have caught you up. Now onto Easter.

Landry was more than willing to cooperate... as long as he got to play baseball.

Baylee was by far my most willing model... of course! She just let me pose her and snap away!

Zachary was just being... well... a normal 4-year old :) I love this picture I just happened to get of him though!!! :) (I think I was in the process of tickling him... lol)

So... that should bring you up to speed on my life! :)

*By the way... I just happened to edit these pictures on Picnik :)

Happy Blogging :)

Picnik!

Ok, so today I have decided to enlighten you on the world of Picnik! No, you don't need a basket of food, so don' t worry about those pesky little ants! Picnik is photo editing software done right in your browser window! It's super easy to use, so if you can't figure out the expensive and more technologically advanced photo editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, this is perfect for you! (btw, I enjoy PS very much! But Picnik is quick and easy!)

There is nothing to download, everything is done in your browser. AND, most of it is free!

There are some Premium features, and you must become a member to access them. It's only $24.99 a year if you would like to join... you just get some extra stuff :)

You can do basic cosmetic touch-ups, like fixing blemishes, whitening teeth, and red-eye removal. You can also do more advanced stuff, like add text, stickers,

You can also make a Fancy Collage- which has pre-designed pages and layouts- all you have to do is supply the pictures!

You can get your pictures off of Facebook, MySpace, and Flickr, and also upload back to those sites. You can even get them off your blog :)

Here are just a few of my Picnik projects... This was my birthday dinner...
This one was made from the Fancy Collage maker...
This is just fun with borders, stickers and fonts! :)

Picnik is wonderful... you should go try it out!

Happy Blogging :)

Shopping Saturday!

So... Today was SHOPPING SATURDAY!!! I needed new contacts from Big Spring (that's where our optometrist is) and Mom needed her glasses adjusted. So Mom, Dad and I went to Big Spring and got that out of the way, then headed on to Midland to SHOP!

We ate at CHILI'S! And then we headed to Office Depot, where they were having a GREAT sale :) I got this adorable green notebook mouse on sale, wireless AND optical AND GREEN! I love it!So, we also went to Academy, and I found these PINK racquetballs, which also support breast cancer, which some very dear women in my life are battling right now, so it makes me feel good that I am supporting a cause that helps research for a cure! Plus they're pink, so I will stand out in racquetball class :)

So, my favorite purchase of all... I got a James Avery ring :) I love it :)

My mom told my sisters and I we could pick something out from James Avery quite some time ago... and when we were in the mall today, we stopped by the store and looked around. I picked this one out... it was just one of my favorites!!!

We also went to Starbucks, and I got my coffee fix :)
That's two weeks in a row!
Uh oh... I might be starting a habit!!!
Oh yeah, also went to Michael's... and I walked out of there with over 100 notecards... and I only spent $12. I love blank notecards because they are just so useful! I go through quite a few!
I better get to bed, because tomorrow we lose an hour! That's right, Daylight Savings Time... :(
Happy Blogging :)

Texas Tech Basketball

Yeah, I know it's a little late to be posting what i did this weekend... or last weekend... orwhatever. But I had such an exciting Saturday I couldn't help it!

Kendra and I went to Raider Madness on Saturday. Tech had a presentation and served us some very delicious hamburgers! Kendra did manage to get me in a Tech shirt, but I refused to do the "gunup." (I can't help that i bleed orange!) Silly me, I forgot my camera... but Kendra did take a picture of us at the game on her phone... I picnik-ed it (which I am a huge fan of... but that's another blog-worthy subject for another time!)

I did not root for either Tech or OU, but I did become a fan of Blake Griffin, who is an incredible basketball player for OU. He is a very intense player... once the ball was going out of bounds and he slid over and off the scorers table to get it back in... (I did get a little excited, I thought I might get to see a broken bone or two... but no one was injured) His brother Taylor is also on the team, and is an excellent player also. He ended up out-scoring Blake... but not by much. We left while there was still only two minutes left in the game, and OU ended up beating Tech, 78-63.

We then went to the mall, and our mission was simple... get new rings for our piercings! I got my cartilage pierced again a couple of weeks ago, so I can't put mine in yet, but I got a green ring and the ball that closes it is green also. So, I took the ball out of my original ring and put the green one in! It's so cute :)

Then we went and saw "He's Just Not That Into You"... such a cute movie! It was great!

We finished the night by going to STARBUCKS! It was amaaaaazing... Manhattan is as close as I get to Starbucks on a regular basis... but it is not the same! I looooove coffee!!

So, that was my weekend... and now it's almost time for another one!

Happy blogging :)

Monday, March 2, 2009

Hello!

Ok, so, I had to give in, and join the blogging world. I feel kinda weird doing it, because most blogs are mommies who have cute little children. I am not a mommy (nor do I plan on becoming one anytime soon) so I don't have any cute little children of my own... but I do have the most adorable niece and nephews. :)

So how do I start off my newly created blog? Well, I guess I'll start with myself first. Education. I am a sophomore in college, a Liberal Studies major. Why Liberal Studies, you ask? That's what they give you when you are indecisive about a major, and decide to change 2,496 times. Yes, you read that correctly. I am a very indecisive person. I won't even go into my major choices... but I mainly switched between teaching and diet & nutrition. What is my major now? Radiology. Yeah, I don't know how I ended up with that either...

Work. I work at a church. I am an administrative assistant for our Preschool, Children, and Youth Ministers. Yes, I have 3 bosses, which can get a little hectic sometimes! But my bosses are great and I am blessed to have such understanding bosses! They are very willing to work around my school schedule. :)

So I must continue with my monotonous daily tasks... but I'll be back soon!

Happy blogging :)
